How did you hear about CrossFit and what was you first experience/WOD?
Friends from Chicago and college told me about it.  They were all getting in really good shape, so decided to try it.  Free intro class was my first experience.  I was really nervous, and relieved that i could scale the movements.  I really liked it because I like getting my butt kicked in the gym.

When did you first come to CrossFit NOLA 504?
September 2012

What CrossFit accomplishment are you most proud of?
My strict pull up.  It's only 1 but I'm extremely proud of it

If there was any CrossFit movement you could choose to never do again, what would it be?
BURPEES

After a hard workout what is your favorite meal?
A paleo kit because it has protein and I don't have to cook it and I can eat it in my car (or in the gym as I walk out).

On a Saturday night, where could we typically find you?
Drinking wine..somewhere doesn't matter where or with who

What is one goal you are currently working on that you will accomplish before the end of 2013?
Multiple strict pull-ups!

How did you hear about CrossFit and what was your first experience/WOD?

I heard about CrossFit from a friend. My first reaction was, "You worked out for 8 minutes? That's IT?!!" I thought it was totally crazy and I didn't believe it could do you any good.

My first experience was at CrossFit NOLA during my tiny (2 person) fundamentals class. I really enjoyed the first session, so I came back for two more. And the rest is a long beautiful history of blisters, sore shoulders, and floor burn.

When did you first come to CrossFit NOLA?

I first visited CrossFit NOLA during the Po Boy Fest 2010. Brent and I were looking for a place to park near Oak Street, so we cruised by the gym (911 Joliet). Mollie was there and told us to grab a spot. I saw the inside of the gym, saw Mollie's amazing legs and decided to sign up for a class.

What CrossFit accomplishment are you the most proud of?

I am really proud of my pull-ups! I still can't string many in a row, but I can do them without a band and that's a huge accomplishment for me. I'm so proud that I once did them in Las Vegas, hanging from scaffolding outside a casino.

I am also really proud of my snatch. Isn't every girl?

If there was any CrossFit movement that you could choose to never do
again, what would it be?

Wall balls. I could not walk for days after last year's Open workout 12.4 (150 wall balls followed by a few double unders.. I never made it to the muscle-ups).

After a hard workout, what is your favorite meal?

A juicy burger or a giant veggie frittata made at home.

On a Saturday night, where could we typically find you?

Out and about somewhere in the city. Uptown, downtown, it doesn't matter - as long as there's good music, good friends, and good beer.

What is one goal that you are currently working on that you will
accomplish before the end of 2012?

I am working on my shoulder strength!  I need to turn this into a SMART goal, but for now, the goal is to improve my shoulder press and my thrusters.

I also want to run a 1:45 half marathon this year.

Anything else you would like to add?

I work in HIV Prevention and spend most of my day trying to encourage behavior change. What I've learned after four years, is that behavior change is really hard. I love Crossfit because it's a space where people are actively changing their behavior! My favorite moments are meeting someone who has never lifted a weight before or someone who shows up for class after slacking for a few months and beasts it!

How did you hear about CrossFit and what was your first experience/WOD?  I heard about CrossFit from a friend in Baton Rouge a year before I actually got involved.  I tried to follow the website on my own but there was too much information to sift through at the time and I need quite a bit of scaling.  I tried another facility in town but you know the rest of that story.

When did you first come to CrossFit NOLA? December 2011.

What CrossFit accomplishment are you the most proud of?   I am most proud of getting my husband, Mat,t involved with me.  Now if I can get my children involved that will be saying something!    Personally, I am proud that I can occasionally do those 20” box jumps.

If there was any CrossFit movement that you could choose to never do again, what would it be?   Well, there was that completely terrifying game of Dodgeball…

After a hard workout, what is your favorite meal? Since I do early morning classes it generally means breakfast, so I make a breakfast burrito with my own chicken’s eggs, sugar free sausage and coconut wrap with a side of V8 juice and coffee.

On a Saturday night, where could we typically find you?  Wherever the fun is.  We love going to new restaurants, bars and music clubs as well as sporting events. However, I must say that CrossFit is cutting into my social life because I get very tired around 9 PM and most of the action around this town happens after that.

What is one goal that you are currently working on that you will accomplish before the end of 2012?   I hope to complete 30 consecutive double-unders.  The most I have done is 15 so it is possible.

What do you like best about Crossfit and Crossfit NOLA?  I like the members and the personal attention we all get from the trainers.

Anything else you would like to add?    I believe that CrossFit is for everyone regardless of their current abilities or lack of fitness.  I am also an orthopedic physical therapist specializing in low back and neck pain and really enjoy treating my CrossFit friends.

How did you hear about CrossFit and what was your first experience/WOD? My brother Robert was doing CrossFit and my brother Michael asked me if I wanted to start going because he was interested. This is pretty typical because half the awesome things I try are cause my brothers showed me. My first WOD was new years eve and it was pretty hard for me having not worked out in at least 10 years.

When did you first come to CrossFit NOLA?  November 2011.

What CrossFit accomplishment are you the most proud of? I get to the gym 5 days a week and some days I’m there for 2+ hours doing the WOD and Boxing.

If there was any CrossFit movement that you could choose to never do again, what would it be? Running backwards.

After a hard workout, what is your favorite meal? Anything I don’t have to cook for myself.

On a Saturday night, where could we typically find you? At home with a book.

What do you do for work? What do you do for fun? Structural engineer; read and work on my house.

What is one goal that you are currently working on that you will accomplish before the end of 2012? Good toes-to-bar.

JD is a member that stands out to all of the NOLA 504 coaches as someone who consistently works hard, has a positive attitude, is welcoming to other members, and makes great progress towards his goals. The Bruce Brothers are also responsible for (almost) literally half the members of  MidCity, so we appreciate that as well.
